From 2015 to 2023, the students, faculty and staff of Saga Residential College (RC) built a community that they described as “caring, considerate, subtle in its success, and above all, laissez-faire and non-judgmental when it comes to the habits of suitemates and neighbours”.
These Sagans (as they were known) were led by two Rectors: Associate Professor Sarah Weiss, followed by Associate Professor Khoo Hoon Eng.
The residential programmes fashioned by these Rectors reflected their interests in local history, languages, music and food, and ensured that the students were immersed in the cultures of Singapore and Southeast Asia.
Shortly before Saga’s closure in 2023, students and staff curated an exhibition in the Library celebrating the College’s history and showcasing the character and achievements of the ‘chill’ and ‘quiet’ college.
